King David is one of the most famous characters in the Bible; certainly, one of mine. His life was far from perfect. He faced his own struggles; some self-inflicted by pride and greed. In many ways, how much different was his life from ours? From a life of simplicity as a shepherd, he becomes the target of hate and jealousy, then ascends to a place of power and prominence; only to be overcome by selfishness and covetousness.

In Psalms 23, David understands that God knows him and what he needs. He writes that God provides rest in the green pastures, comfort and protection from his enemies and spiritual restoration when he felt weak. Like David, God knows us and what we need.

In the letter to the church in Philippi, Paul reminds us that God’s provision is not limited by our circumstances. He knows every need before we speak it, and His resources are abundant in Christ Jesus. Patience teaches us to trust not only that God can provide, but that He knows the right way and the right time to do it.

When we are waiting for provision, it can be tempting to panic, rush, or doubt. Yet God invites us to rest in His faithfulness. When we Focus on Jesus, we can trust Him completely. Trusting Him with patience means believing that He sees our need completely and will supply what is necessary according to His wisdom, love, and glory.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for knowing every need I have. Help me wait patiently for Your provision, trusting that You will supply what is needed according to Your riches, wisdom, and perfect timing. Amen.
