You know that phrase, “gut punch?” That sudden feeling of distress after a surprising event. We’ve all experienced that feeling, right? Some time ago, I lost my job due to a change in the organization where my role was eliminated. No notice, no warning, no preparation. The drive home was sobering. Lost, confused, upset, angry. What was I going to do next? How long would it take? Was I going to survive; financially, emotionally. Almost two years later, a new opportunity arrived. Finally, right?
Long seasons of uncertainty can make us wonder whether God has forgotten us, especially when a challenge like that job loss stretches for far longer than expected. In 1 Peter 5:10, he reminds us “And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.” Suffering is not the end of the story. The God of all grace sees every setback, every unanswered application, every disappointment, and every quiet moment of worry. His promise is not simply that we will survive the trial, but that He Himself will restore, strengthen, establish, and settle us.
Are you struggling with feelings of uncertainty due to a significant loss? I encourage you to keep placing your hope in God’s character rather than in the speed of your circumstances changing. Focus on Jesus; use the waiting season to grow deeper roots in prayer, faith, and perseverance. What feels delayed may still be developing strength within you. God can use even a painful pause to prepare you for a firmer foundation and a future marked by His grace.
Prayer: Lord, help me trust in Your timing when the waiting feels long. Restore my strength, steady my heart, and keep my hope anchored in You. In Jesus’s name, Amen!
Peace & Blessings!
