Ever felt like God chose to use an extreme measure to get your attention? Oh, I believe we have all been there! Imagine Jonah; charged to go to Nineveh and preach against the city as commanded by God. Jonah’s choice, run away! How did God get his attention? Sent a storm to the boat he was hiding on, forcing Jonah to sacrifice himself for the safety of everyone else, and then ends up in the mouth of a great fish. I’d say He got his attention. Fortunately, Jonah wisely surrendered to God’s call and went to Nineveh.

James 4:7 reminds us that spiritual victory begins with surrender to God. We cannot stand strong against temptation and discouragement in our own power, but when we submit ourselves to the Lord, His strength becomes our covering. Resistance becomes possible when our hearts are aligned with Him.

Submission to God is not weakness; it is the posture that leads to freedom and courage. When we Focus on Jesus, we draw near to Him and stand firm in His truth, the enemy loses ground and our faith grows stronger.
