04-15-2026 - John Scott | Matthew 6:25

If you ever studied Greek mythology, you may know the name Atlas. Atlas was the Titan that was condemned by Zeus for all eternity as punishment for leading a revolt of the Titans against the Olympian gods. His punishment: to hold up the sky, as is depicted in the sculpture located in Rockefeller Center, New York City. How many of you live every day feeling like Atlas; that you must carry the weight of the world on your shoulders?

Matthew, writing in chapter 6, tells us about that sense of worry. Verse 6 is a clear call from Jesus to let go of worry and trust God completely. As men, we often feel the weight of responsibility—providing for our families, pursuing our careers, and caring for ourselves and others. The temptation to worry about finances, health, and our future can easily become overwhelming. Yet Christ reminds us that life is far more than these concerns. He asks us to surrender our anxieties and remember that God, who created us, knows our needs and cares for us far more deeply than we understand.

Trusting God isn’t always easy, especially when facing tough decisions or uncertain times. But faith means believing that our Father will guide us, provide for us, and sustain us, no matter what challenges arise. Today, choose to set aside worry and place your trust in God’s goodness. Allow Him to lead you, knowing He is faithful. Let your heart be at peace, confident that God is your strength and shield—He will walk with you and meet your needs.

Life, so often, can be simple when seen through words of Matthew. Later in chapter 6, Matthew writes, “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” ~ 6:33-34. When we Focus on Jesus, the weight of our worries will slowly fade away as we surrender our lives into His faithful hands.

Peace & Blessings!
