Is it possible to do something wrong and believe it is the right thing to do? It’s an intriguing question. How do measure right and wrong? Is it based on your understanding of the law? Is it based on your faith? How might it be interpreted by society? In most cases, we are brought up with a set of values, rules and principles based on “right” and “wrong.” The foundation of those principles usually guides how we matriculate in every day life, right?

Let’s look at the life of the Apostle Paul, formerly known as Saul of Tarsus. A Roman citizen born to Jewish parents, he studied the laws under the teachings of Rabbi Gamaliel. As the teaching and ministry of Christ grew, like so many of the religious leaders of the time, Saul rejected the idea of Jesus being the Messiah. His refusal grew so intensely that he began to persecute Christians; starting with the approval of the stoning death of Stephen. In Acts, we read “And Saul approved of their killing him. On that day a great persecution broke out against the church in Jerusalem, and all except the apostles were scattered throughout Judea and Samaria. Godly men buried Stephen and mourned deeply for him. But Saul began to destroy the church. Going from house to house, he dragged off both men and women and put them in prison.” ~Acts‬ ‭8‬:‭1‬-‭3‬ ‭

Saul’s crusade to threaten and imprison Christians throughout Jerusalem was a dark period for the Apostles and the early Christian church. Jesus recognized this sense of hatred in Saul and lays His plan of conversion to remove Saul from this darkness. “As he neared Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him. He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?” “Who are you, Lord?” Saul asked. “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting,” he replied. “Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.”” ~Acts‬ ‭9‬:‭3‬-‭6‬ ‭NIV‬‬ This moment began the change in Saul, including changing his name to Paul, and he became one of the most passionate voices for Christ throughout the New Testament.

Are you facing dark times? Living in a season where you are lost and in need of rescue? Just like for Paul, Christ is our lifeline calling out to you. He is ready to remove that darkness and bring you into the light of salvation! “For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.”
‭‭Colossians‬ ‭1‬:13-14 NIV.

Focus on Jesus ~ because of His love for you, He will place you on a new path of redemption and purpose. Use your story and testimony to give praise and glory to The Most High!

Peace & Blessings!
