In some traditions, it is customary for family, friends and neighbors to come together and bring food to the home of the family when there is a loss of a loved one. During such suffering and shock, a main dish, side item or dessert can be a simple, loving gesture to express comfort and support. With all the planning for a service, travel arrangements and managing legal and financial papers, it gives the family one less thing to think about.
It is this comfort and support that James spoke of when he said, "Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray"(V13). We all need a support system when we face trouble or need prayer. Our brothers and sisters in Christ are there to stand with us, offer words of loving kindness and ensure us that the Heavenly Father will always bring His peace. That is why Paul wrote in 1 Thessalonians 5:11, "Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing."
God`s Peace on you!
