#BeMore - Protective

06-10-2020 - John Scott | Isaiah 4:5-6

Several years ago, I was offered a job promotion with my company and moved to a new part of the country. As I settled in to my new home and began the process of unpacking countless boxes, I started the arduous task of stocking the place with food, cleaning supplies and all the necessary items to make my new place feel like home. One of the often forgotten but most important items I had to purchase was a new umbrella. I wanted one that was a good size, string enough to handle the inevitable rains and winds and sturdy enough to keep me dry and secure. To this day, that umbrella has provided the protection I have needed.

For me, God has become my umbrella in everyday life. In today`s passage, the prophet Isaiah states, “And Jehovah will create over the whole habitation of mount Zion, and over her assemblies, a cloud and smoke by day, and the shining of a flaming fire by night; for over all the glory shall be spread a covering. And there shall be a pavilion for a shade in the day-time from the heat, and for a refuge and for a covert from storm and from rain.” Isaiah 4:5-5 ASV We know, day and night, that God is our shelter from the storms of life.
He is our ultimate shelter; our protection. At times, life will be difficult. We will face struggles, challenges and heartache. God never promised that life would be easy, especially in our Christian walk. The storms will come, the harsh rains will bear down on us and we may feel tossed around against the winds of difficulty. Peter writes to the church at Corinth, “And he hath said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my power is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Wherefore I take pleasure in weaknesses, in injuries, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.” ‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭12:9-10‬ ‭ASV‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

I am thankful that when the clouds roll in and the rains come pouring down, I have my trusty umbrella to protect me. Whether clouds or sunshine, God is my protector, provider and comfort. I will trust in Him as my umbrella in life. Praise Him for He deserves all the honor and glory!

God`s Peace & Blessings to you!
