Triumph over Tragedy

03-26-2020 - John Scott | Matthew 27:45-50

“Tragedies are common place, all kind of diseases, people are slipping away. Economies down, people can’t get enough to pay. As for me, all I can say is thank you lord for all you’ve done for me. Folks without homes living out in the streets and the drug habit some say just can’t be beat. Muggers and robbers no place seem to be safe, but you have been my protection every step of the way, so all I can say is thank you lord for all you done for me."

This song by Mary, Mary is one of my favorite songs. For the song talks about tragic situations taking place all around us, yet, the Lord is still good in the midst. Personally, I know it is hard to find good in the midst of bad. However, Jesus did this when he died on the Cross. For, Jesus` death was not just a tragedy, but an injustice of major proportion. Yet, in the midst of tragedy, there was Triumph. Jesus had to die so that you and I might have life and have it more abundantly. In one fell swoop, Jesus triumphed over Evil, Sin and Death. His death symbolized hope for us in that “while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” As you work through the tragedies in your life, be confident in knowing that with Jesus you can triumph as well.

To God be the glory!!!
