Backward Thinking

06-04-2019 - John Scott | Genesis 19:26

The title of our devotional today is taken from a term often used by others to explain the thinking of someone who cannot see what is happening in the present. They choose to stay focused on the past without understanding the future. This is where we pick up the story of Lot’s wife. Lot, his wife and family were fleeing the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah because God had destined the cities for destruction. Lot and his family were warned to flee and not look back. However, as they were leaving, Lot’s wife looked back and was turned into a pillar of Salt.

Lot’s wife is an all too familiar example of those who choose to look back when God is trying to move you forward. When God moves in your life, stop looking back to what you used to be or do. Just focus on where God is taking you and leave the rest to Him.

To God be the glory!!!
