12-25-2024 - John Scott | Isaiah 41:10

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is one of my favorite musicals. It follows the story of Joseph, the son of Jacob and Rachel, from the book of Genesis. Not only is it a popular musical; it is one of the more famous stories in the Bible.

One aspect that was true in the life of Joseph was struggle. Now, if you grew up with siblings, struggle was probably a common descriptive in your household! However, let’s take a look at Joseph and see how your experience compares. He was disliked by brothers. They were jealous of Joseph because he had an extra special place with their father. His father gave him a special coat. Joseph was sold into slavery and ended up in Egypt. He was later accused of misconduct by the wife of the Captain of Pharaoh’s guard. Struggle? I would say so!

God used Joseph, like so many of us, despite the hardships he had endured. It was because of God’s grace and purposeful plan that Joseph ascended to the Chief Administrator of Egypt. In this position, he was later able to save his father and brother from the famine in his homeland.

The prophet Isaiah wrote, “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” ~Isaiah? ?41?:?10? ?NIV??. We all have a story of struggles or hardship. Why? What purpose does it have? When we Focus on Jesus, God will use our situation for His greater good and plan for our lives. Though the struggle is real, trust that God knows and will bring us through. We give Him all the glory!
