Have you ever heard the phrase, “You have the patience of Job?” I heard it all the time growing up. In most cases, it was usually an adult; one who may have been dealing with an unruly child (not me of course!) The story of Job is not just about patience. It’s about his faithfulness and praise.
In the first chapter of Job, we read the account of how he, Job, a wealthy man, lost all he owned including all his livestock and 10 children and family members. Despite losing everything and everyone, it states “At this, Job got up and tore his robe and shaved his head. Then he fell to the ground in worship and said: “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will depart. The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised.” In all this, Job did not sin by charging God with wrongdoing.” (Job? ?1?:?20?-?22? ?NIV??)
Under the worst of circumstances, Job still praised God. How many of us would have the strength of faith to do what Job did? In all, good or bad, let us be reminded to focus on Jesus! God knows our situations and He will always provide. He knows exactly what we need! The prophet Isaiah wrote, “Lord, you are my God; I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness you have done wonderful things, things planned long ago.” (Isaiah? ?25?:?1? ?NIV?). Always praise Him; stay focused on Jesus!
