09-11-2024 - John Scott | John 3:16-17

Here is a question you hear all the time. What is my purpose? How often have we asked that question? For me, several times. Frankly, more times than can be counted. We all do it, right? We’re all trying to figure it. What am I supposed to be doing with my life? Sounds familiar, right?

Okay, so let’s start with, “What is purpose?” According to Greater Good Magazine (www.greatergood.berkeley.edu), “To psychologists, purpose is an abiding intention to achieve a long-term goal that is both personally meaningful and makes a positive mark on the world.” As a read this a few times, I found myself focused on these key words/phrases ~ “Achieve a long-term goal,” “meaningful,” and “positive mark.”

John wrote, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” -John? ?3?:?16?-?17? ?NIV??.

Is there anyone who lived a more purposeful life than our Savior, Jesus Christ? The scripture shows us:

Long-term Goal ~ Eternal Life
Meaning ~ God’s Love
Positive Mark ~ Faith

Like each of us, God created us for His purpose. When questions arise about your purpose, Focus on Jesus. He will guide you on that path of fulfillment and bring glory to His name through you!
