Do you sometimes look at people based on the “stage” in life? You create an opinion of someone because of their circumstances. If someone is unemployed, do you view them differently? What if they are divorced? What can be worse is we, at times, look at ourselves with those negative labels. In that judgment, we may think less of ourselves because we believe that is our identity.
Look at Rahab. In the book of Joshua, she is described as the “prostitute named Rahab” as she assisted the spies sent by Joshua. Rahab was not a “prostitute” in God’s eyes. She had a greater purpose. In Hebrews, it states, “By faith the prostitute Rahab, because she welcomed the spies, was not killed with those who were disobedient.” ~Hebrews? ?11?:?31? ?NIV??
No matter where your path takes you, no matter what choices you have made, God has a purpose for your life. You no longer have to carry any negative labels about yourself. Your identity is not solely determined by your choices. You are a child of God! Always focus on Jesus.
