I was once told that everybody can do a good job when others are watching. However, a true worker is one who can do a great job when nobody is watching.
In our chosen text, the writer is challenging the believer to do his or her job with great joy and excellence. For, what we do is not for ourselves, but for the overseer, who is the Lord. In other words, we are challenged to have a mindset that is fixed on pleasing God and not man. When I focus on pleasing God and not man, I can rest assured that my overseer is pleased with me.
