#BeMore - Obedient

05-25-2022 - John Scott | Philippians 2:1-8

Do you know the story of Saul and his conversion? Most of us remember this story for many reasons. Saul was known for being notorious and ruthless. Because he did not believe in Jesus as the Savior, he persecuted men and women and had them put into prison for the beliefs and faith in Christ. Eventually, as God always does, He reached Saul on that famous road to Damascus and spoke directly to him! You want to get someone?s attention; let the voice of God reach down to you.

Saul was obedient and eventually listened to Christ. He was obedient and accepted Christ as the true, living Savior. What I remember about this story was another?s choice to be obedient, Ananias. In a vision, God told Ananias to find Saul so that he could lay hands on Saul to restore his sight. Naturally, knowing of Saul and his well-deserved reputation, Ananias was resistant to follow God?s direction. God already had a plan & purpose for Saul. ?15?the Lord said to Ananias, ?Go! This man is my chosen instrument to proclaim my name to the Gentiles and their kings and to the people of Israel. 16 I will show him how much he must suffer for my name.? = Acts 9:15-16.

Ananias demonstrated his obedience to God. Despite his reservations, he put his commitment to serve the Lord over his fears. Obedience to God is not always easy. It takes strength, faith, love and sacrifice. ?And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love.? ? 2 John 1:6

BE MORE ? Be more committed to God. Put your fears, anxieties, and worries away. Replace concern with His faithfulness, weakness with His strength. Humble yourself and let God fill you with who He is! Feed your faith by studying the word, meditating on it, seeking revelation from God. In time, we will become the disciple He has called us to be. WALK BY FAITH, NOT BY SIGHT!

God Bless
