Sacrifice thy Body

01-05-2022 - John Scott | Psalms 22:16-18

There are several scriptures, in the Old Testament, that speak of prophecies of the coming Christ who would be sent to save the world. In those passages, there are symbols that reference the sacrifice that Christ would make. His physical body, spoken by several writers, details the pain and torture He endures. The Psalmist wrote, "Dogs surround me, a pack of villains encircles me; they pierce my hands and my feet. All my bones are on display; people stare and gloat over me. They divide my clothes among them and cast lots for my garment.? ~Psalms 22:16-18 NIV. In the New Testament, Christ, in speaking to the disciples after the resurrection, states "Look at my hands and my feet. It is I myself! Touch me and see; a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have.? When he had said this, he showed them his hands and feet. (Luke 24:39-40)

Be More in 2022 ... remember the sacrifice of Christ, enduring physical abuse and torture, so that we can receive the gift of salvation. Let us walk each day giving of ourselves to serve others!
